With over 15 years events management experience organising everything from; parties to incentives, dinners to large scale meetings, and more recently in my role as a trained wedding planner, I first discovered the art of macrame. Something about this craft encapsulated me after seeing it in various wedding and event design. As a big fan of that laid-back bohemian styling, it seemed the perfect fibre art to investigate further!
I guess I’ve always been ‘crafty’ as a kid, it’s in the family genes! I’ve tried a few different crafts but it wasn’t until 2019 that I found myself making my first macrame plant hanger at a local art centre. I loved it so much that I was hooked and began experimenting with a number of different techniques!
I found that there was a gap in the market for sustainable and eco-friendly designs to help accessorise special occasions and so Tying the Knot Design was born with an edge towards wedding styling. Ive since expanded to all creating décor for all kinds of special occasions and haven’t looked back since!
Event Décor Expert
As a macrame décor expert, I love nothing more than using my creative hands to produce pieces of fibre art for you to purchase or hire that will enhance your event space into something truly magnificent.
I work out of my Essex based studio and I always have a tonnes of projects on the go! I handcraft everything from small scale hanging decorations, tableware, to larger scale statement pieces, jaw dropping backdrops and so much more. Underlying my core values of styling, creating and supplying unique designs.
I live happily by the sea in Essex with my family, yet I love the fact that I am only a short drive away from the beautiful Essex countryside and the wide open spaces where a lot of my inspiration comes from. I am generally at my happiest listening to music, sipping on a gin or binge watching Netflix. I attempt to play the guitar, love a good festival and enjoy being with family and friends. Combine that with my love of event planning, crafting and bohemian styling and you can see how macrame sits perfectly in the centre of all this!
Inspirational Journal
With my planning background and tonnes of events and wedding experience, coupled with my love of writing, I decided to put together a down-to-earth planning and inspiration journal over these pages with lots of hints and tips and so much more. If this sounds like a bit of you, fab, you’re definitely in the right place! A space where you can leave overwhelm at the door and immerse yourself (with a drink or two!) in all things celebratory!
